Is It Okay to Leave During Savasana?

Answer:
No, it is not okay to leave during the final Savasana. In the culture of yoga, leaving during this period is considered a significant breach of etiquette and is highly disrespectful to both the teacher and the other students in the room.
Savasana, or Corpse Pose, is the final and arguably most important posture of the practice. It is a period of deep, conscious relaxation where the body and mind absorb and integrate the benefits of the intense physical work that has just been performed. It is a meditative and deeply personal time for every student in the room. The noise and disruption of someone packing up their mat, opening the door, and leaving can completely shatter this peaceful and vulnerable state for everyone else.
If you have an urgent and unavoidable appointment that requires you to leave class early, the proper etiquette is to inform the teacher before the class begins. They will almost always advise you to set up your mat near the door and to quietly exit before the final Savasana starts. This shows respect for the practice and for the shared experience of your fellow yogis.
