Answer:

While any water bottle is better than no water bottle, the best choice for a hot yoga class is an insulated, stainless steel water bottle. The reasons for this are both practical and experiential. A hot yoga room is, by definition, very hot. A standard, non-insulated plastic bottle will warm up to the ambient temperature of the room very quickly. Taking a sip of 100-degree water midway through an intense class is not refreshing and does little to help you feel cool. An insulated bottle, however, will keep your water cold and crisp for the entire 60 or 90-minute class. That sip of genuinely cold water can be a huge psychological and physical boost, providing a moment of relief that helps you to reset and refocus. From a practical standpoint, stainless steel bottles are durable, reusable, and easy to clean, making them an environmentally friendly and hygienic choice. Look for a bottle with a leak-proof lid that is easy to open and close with one hand, so you can take a quick, non-disruptive sip between postures. A larger capacity (at least 24-32 ounces) is also a good idea to ensure you have enough water to last the entire class.
